Thomson Reuters (WoS) publishing

Anyone who was faced with necessity of scientific papers’ publication, heard names such as: Thomson Reuters, Web of Knowledge, Core Collection, Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index: Arts & Humanities Citation Index, and many others.

One and the same scientometrical database is meant under these terms. Nevertheless, it has its own peculiarities, and we will tell you exactly what they are.

  •  Thomson Reuters – the name of the media company that covers many realms of science. One of its subsidiaries is a scientometrical database Web of Science (WoS)

  • Wos Core Collection  – a platform that combines various publications’ databases, patents in magazines. It covers materials on natural, technical, social, human sciences and arts
  • Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE),  Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) -  the most popular sections of this database
  • SCIENCE CITATION INDEX EXPANDED - base of natural science, technical and medical journals. Archive depth – 1970.
  • SOCIAL SCIENCE CITATION INDEX - base of economic and social sciences’ journals. Archive depth – 1970.
  • ARTS AND HUMANITIES CITATION INDEX -  base of human sciences’ journals. Archive depth – 1975.

Wos Core Collection  is the GOLD STANDARD for the scientific world and it includes more than 10 000 journals. Unfortunately, many articles, even quality ones, do not pass peer review in Thomson Reuters. For example, it can occur due to inaccurate definition of the publication in which your work may be of scientific interest to readers. Also because of article’s formatting discrepancy to the journal requirements and lack of business correspondence skills with English-speaking reviewers. Even the requirements to article’s uniqueness in Thomson is much higher than in other databases. At the same time, our company has repeatedly refined manuscripts to the required level, even when the client had several refusals about publication of his work when trying to submit it by oneself. By the way, we evaluate uniqueness and necessity to finalize the article for free.

An article published in SCIE, SSCI,AHCI, is suitable for any purpose, which scientists around the world set for their publication:

  • Competition for a new academic degree (title)

  • Upgrade of their own rating, rating of researches, university’s

  • Popularization of the selected discipline

  •  Implementation of number of publications for grants, participation in competitions

It is believed that a scientist who made a significant contribution to science and to the development of scientific discipline, must have at least 10 high-quality scientific publications with a good citation level. Moreover, three out of ten works have to be published in the "Gold Standard" ratings - Wos Core Collection.

Particularities of publications in the Thomson Reuters journals’ database consist in a tough policy of journals’ reviews. Reviewers can repeatedly return the article for revision, request to increase the number of innovations in the survey, etc. Due to this, the average time of publication and labor cost to publish in WoS is several times higher than in any other scientometrical base.
